LIGHTING ONE GOES GREEN
St. Louis, MO (December 26, 2007) — Lighting One, the specialty lighting
cooperative has made a pledge to be an environmentally-conscious company with the
launch of a new environmental program, Green Select. As a socially aware company,
Lighting One is embracing the green movement and is dedicated to offering consumers
green product selections while acting as an environmentally responsible company
through relationships with communities, customers, product suppliers, and employees.
Green Select encompasses various initiatives at all levels of Lighting One’s business
as to ensure sound environmental business practices.
“Being an environmentally aware business is not only our civic duty, it is a necessity,”
says Mike Cherico, Lighting One president. “In the interest of making our community
stronger, we pledge to be proactive and transparent as we enact our Green Select
environmental initiatives.”
From a product standpoint, Lighting One’s initial green product offerings will include
Energy Star® rated products and they have invested in a robust marketing campaign
in which all elements will be printed on recyclable materials. Lighting One notes
that green product offerings and Green Select criterion will be constantly evaluated
and updated based on industry changes and technological advances.
Lighting One’s Green Select initiatives include educating showrooms about environmental
awareness and green product offerings to provide expert advice to the ever growing
market of green consumers, while applying their learning to all aspects of their
individual lives outside of the workplace. Excited to develop partnerships with
other green companies, councils, and organizations located in our communities, Lighting
One envisions bringing the community together to help promote a healthy and sustainable
environment. In addition, Lighting One looks forward to encouraging a corporate
day to supporting Earth Day Celebration coupled with employee volunteer efforts.
To produce quantifiable results, Lighting One is developing a series of practices
that will enable employees to conserve and reduce resources on a daily basis. A
store-wide recycling program, for instance, will educate employees about best recycling
practices.
“While we will not be able to completely eliminate all resources and waste products,”
adds Mike Cherico, “we can use our resources in the most efficient and responsible
manner in order to minimize our waste where possible and increase our overall operating
efficiency.”
In addition to being committed to education, partnerships, resource conservation,
waste reduction, and recycling, Lighting One pledges to make the Green Select program
transparent to each community.
Lighting One is fully aware that “green” is an ever-evolving topic and is committed
to being proactive in developing new goals and adjusting initiatives to continually
make a positive impact on the environment.
