MANCHESTER, N.H., Jan.7, 2008 — When Flooring America teamed up with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign in March of 2006, the company hoped it could do some good.

Instead, it has been doing great, with donations to the AHA to date totaling more than $100,000. Flooring America will present its latest check—for $52,933—to the AHA during the company’s Winter Convention in Houston, Tex., Jan. 7 to 9. The amount represents a portion of the proceeds from Flooring America’s one-month fund-raising promotion in stores last August, a nationwide effort that exceeded expectations and left company officials praising the ongoing commitment of its national membership.

The promotion was part of a three-year partnership between Flooring America and the American Heart Association to raise awareness and funds to combat heart disease in women, the No. 1 killer of women in the U.S.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with the results from August’s Red Tag Sale to benefit the Go Red for Women movement,” says Debi Binder, vice president of marketing at Flooring America. “It’s been gratifying to see such a strong response to this important cause from our retailers and customers.

“Heart disease touches all of our lives—the people we know, the people we work with, the people who shop at our stores,” she continues. “So it made sense for us to form a relationship with the AHA and try to make a difference in the lives of women everywhere.”

The AHA’s Go Red campaign has had tremendous impact on support of this vital national cause, notes Flooring America president Vinnie Virga. “We’re deeply grateful to the wonderful folks at the AHA, to our members and customers, and to the flooring manufacturers,” he says. “They eagerly joined us in August to support the sale by lowering prices and donating the difference to Go Red for Women.”

Flooring America will again be focused on women’s heart health during the month of February, National Go Red for Women Month. “We’re encouraging Flooring America members to raise awareness all month long and to participate in National Wear Red Day,” says Binder, noting the day when groups and individuals around the country wear red in a nationwide show of solidarity for the cause.
