Manchester, NH (December 14, 2006) — When Flooring America joined forces with the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement earlier this year, the company hoped it could do some good.

Instead, it did great - presenting a $65,099.28 check to the AHA on Thursday, the tally from a one-month fundraising promotion that exceeded expectations and left company officials praising the commitment of its nationwide membership and pledging to do more.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with the results from our very first Red Tag Sale benefiting Go Red,” said Debi Binder, Flooring America’s vice president of marketing, “and we’re just getting started!”

A portion of the proceeds from the August Red Tag Sale were earmarked for Go Red at participating Flooring America stores nationwide. The first promotion of the three-year partnership between Flooring America and the American Heart Association was developed to raise awareness and funds to combat heart disease in women – the leading cause of death among women in the U.S.

“This is so important to our members, our customers, and our family and friends,” said Binder. “Heart disease touches all of our lives – the people we know, the people we work with, the people who shop at our stores – so it was a natural for us to build an alliance with the AHA and try to make a difference in the lives of women everywhere.

Thursday’s luncheon was held at Flooring America’s Manchester headquarters and included a heart-healthy seminar for staff. Guest speakers

“When we learned that heart disease is the leading cause of death among women yet only 13 percent of women view heart disease as a health threat, we knew we wanted to get involved with Go Red For Women,” said Flooring America President Vinnie Virga. “Go Red has only been in existence for three years, but is already making an enormous difference in support of this vital national cause. We’re grateful to the wonderful folks at the AHA, to our members, and our customers, and also to the flooring manufacturers who eagerly joined us in August and supported the sale by lowering prices and donating the difference to Go Red.”

Flooring America’s next Red Tag Sale benefiting Go Red will be held in February – the month which also features National Wear Red Day when groups and individuals throughout the country wear red in a national show or solidarity for heart health.

“We look forward to February, and we hope to present an even bigger check to Go Red,” said Virga. “We’ll also be sponsoring the AHA’s Heart Ball here in Manchester, and fielding a volunteer team for the Heart Walk later in the year. We are so grateful for the invitation to lend our efforts to the movement. Our members are revved up, our customers are appreciative, and we’re getting more excited about Go Red everyday.”
