Flooring America Announces New Core Area Rug Program

Manchester, N.H. (April 11, 2003) – Flooring America announced a complete core area rug program —the Voyager Collection — as a complementary line to its hard surface programs.

Shaw Rugs, Nourisson, and Sphinx by Oriental Weavers are contributing to the Voyager Collection with area rugs that include the traditional, transitional, and contemporary categories in a huge assortment of styles, colors, textures, sizes, and shapes. A wide range of price points will be covered.

“This is a critical time for introducing the Voyager Collection, when there is such a surge in hard-surface sales,” said Evan Hackel, President of Flooring America. “Our members will now have a broader, more diversified selection of outstanding new area rugs to cross-sell to their hard surface customers, giving them another direction for growth in their businesses. They can easily compete with the more established area-rug sellers.” Members will be able to quickly fulfill orders from a wide assortment of styles and variations, considering the nationwide distribution of the three major participating companies.

“We’re pleased to have such major manufacturers as our partners in launching this collection,” said Marilyn Gage, Director of Merchandising. “All of our members can now promote themselves as full service floor covering dealers. Being able to offer customers complete freedom of choice is what gives our members their greatest chance of success.”

Members who signed up for this new program at convention will also receive a complete merchandising system that includes a 60+-page book explaining exactly “How to Get into the Area Rug Business.” They also receive a complete inventory system, rug bags with the Flooring America logo, “Rugmark” bookmark clips for customers to mark their favorite rugs, direct mail postcards, and consumer brochures."This is a totally comprehensive system," said Sally Kelly, Vice-President of Merchandising. "It's targeted to our members who are not in the rug business at the moment but need this boost to get started and also to the experienced and successful member who will benefit from all of the added merchandising tools!"

Participating member-stores will be able to go online to Flooring America’s website and print out two-sided, full-color price tags that include the private style names of the Voyager Collection categories plus price, color name, sampled size, country of origin, fiber makeup, plus additional sizes and colors available.
