Manchester, NH--The 2004 Annual International Design Guild Convention won a great deal of praise from members this year for several reasons. Increased membership interaction was a big hit with members, and returning to the roundtable format clearly pleased members. This all culminated into an incredibly positive Convention atmosphere.

This year’s theme, Celebrating Together 2004 certainly struck a cord with many Guild members, as the togetherness of the group received high marks from members. Kathy Emery remarked, “As we traveled together from topic to topic as a group, we became very comfortable sharing our thoughts and opinions openly, and we really established a strong camaraderie with each other.” Likewise, Dave Sutton commented on the togetherness aspect of Convention 2004 by saying, “I was very pleased with the format. By getting smaller groups of members together, there was a lot more interaction and a greater sharing of ideas.”

The return to the roundtable format was a great success with members as well. Here’s a sample of what some of our members had to say about the roundtable format.

  • Dave Sutton, Carpet Galleria- “The group leaders were very open and receptive to our questions and comments, and were truly listening to what we had to say.”
  • Mark Huppert, Images- “I thought it was a terrific set up. It felt like we were back to a time when we were a smaller group.”
  • Jay Bremen, Design Center Carpets- “The roundtables were perfect. This was a great way of exposing members to information and getting everyone to participate.”

The 2004 Convention was deemed an overall success by Design Guild Members who were in attendance. Jay Bremen of Design Center Carpets remarked that the timing of Convention was perfect. “Putting Convention in conjunction with Surfaces and what’s going on with the market results in a very positive mood. There was a real upbeat attendance.” David Truett of Truett Fine Carpets and Rugs also found the atmosphere of Celebrating Together 2004 to be positive. “The interaction between the members and the vendors was good. The format was great, and I’ve heard a lot of positive feedback from fellow members.” Nancy Stalloni of Lang Carpets agreed that members were pleased with convention. She summed up “Celebrating Together 2004” by saying, “Absolutely. This was a good convention.”
