CARPET ONE FLOOR & HOME GOES “DUNKING FOR DOLLARS” TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE FCIF IN
MEMORY OF CO-FOUNDER, ALAN GREENBERG
Over $50,000 Raised for the Floor Covering Industry Foundation
MANCHESTER, NH (January 15, 2008) — During their 2008 Winter Convention,
Carpet One Floor & Home set up a dunking booth to give store owners the opportunity
to donate to the Floor Covering Industry Foundation in memory of Carpet One Floor
& Home co-founder, Alan Greenberg. Each donation purchased “dunking points” and
gave Carpet One Floor & Home store owners the opportunity to dunk a Carpet One Floor
& Home corporate executive. The executive with the highest dunking points was slated
to be dunked first. In addition to the dunk tank fundraiser, the Carpet One Floor
& Home Retail Sales Professional Convention attendees also made donations to the
FCIF with the “All-in for Alan Poker Challenge”. All sales professionals attending
the 2008 Retail Sales Professional Convention were able to play, with no money being
solicited, at this exciting cause-related activity.
“The FCIF was very important to Alan,” says Evan Hackel, President of Carpet One
Floor & Home. “We are very happy to have the opportunity to donate so much to the
FCIF in his memory.”
With an impressive list of people to dunk, including Howard Brodsky, Co-Founder,
Chairman, and Co-CEO; Sandy Mishkin, President of CCA Global Partners; Evan Hackel,
President of Carpet One Floor & Home; and Eric Demaree, Chief Operating Officer
of Carpet One Floor & Home, store owners were excited to take part in the festivities.
And at the RSP Convention, teams of sales professionals competed in a series of
fun and challenging activities to “earn” cards for their poker hand. The more challenges
a team completed, the more cards earned, and the better chance of making a winning
hand.
“We wanted to do something light-hearted this convention as we collected donations
for the FCIF in the memory or our dear friend, Alan Greenberg. We are very happy
that our Retail Sales Professionals were able to make a donation in Alan’s memory.”
CCA Global Partners’ President, Sandy Mishkin, lead the executive team’s dip in
the tank, followed by Evan Hackel, Eric Demaree, and David Hendler, Vice President
of Retail. The dunking bids along with the funds donated at the Retail Sales Professional
Convention raised over $50,000 dollars for the FCIF in Alan Greenberg’s name.
