| CARPET ONE ANNOUNCES ANNUAL AWARD WINNERS AT 2006 WINTER CONVENTION
ANAHEIM, CA (February 24, 2006) –– Carpet One announced the recipients of their annual awards at the 2nd Annual Awards Gala during their Winter Convention in Anaheim. The company presented member awards in nine different categories, based on enthusiasm, participation and percentage of sales increase during the past year. In addition, they recognized an outstanding business partner for its dedication to the Carpet One membership.
“We are excited continue the tradition of presenting awards to our top retailers and business partners for their outstanding achievements and dedication to Carpet One over the past year,” said Carpet One President, Evan Hackel. “With the introduction of our 5-Year Plan, 2005 was a very exciting year for Carpet One. I’m proud to report that many of our members had successful years as well.”
“Each of our award winners has continually stood out in our minds, making outstanding contributions to Carpet One or demonstrating exceptional improvements in their business,” added Charlie Dilks, the COO of Carpet One and President of Carpet One Canada. “They truly represent the best of Carpet One in 2005. Evan and I sincerely congratulate all of them for their dedication throughout the year.”
Carpet One presented awards in the following categories:
Spirit of Carpet One Award: Kensington Carpet One in Calgary, AB
This award recognizes the member that most embodies the Carpet One spirit. The winner of this award is enthusiastic and involved in a range of Carpet One programs, from Destination: Carpet One to member councils. This member is dedicated to their community and has made a commitment to not only improve their own business, but to help other members succeed by openly sharing their business strategies and successful practices with other members. The store owner, Vince Healy, has been praised for his leadership, his dedication to improving his staff through Carpet One’s training programs and his passion for Carpet One.
Wally Hileman Award: Floor Décor Carpet One in Lindenhurst, IL
This award was created in honor of Carpet One’s Vice President of Membership from 1991 to 1998, Wally Hileman. This was a pivotal time of growth for the company, during which membership increased by 350 percent and members from Canada, Australia, and New Zealand joined the organization. The Wally Hileman Award recognizes a new Carpet One member who has been with the company for no more than two years and has shown a significant increase in sales, while demonstrating commitment to Carpet One and a desire to improve their business.
Titanium Sales Achievement Award – percentage: Interiors by Feld’s Carpet One in Indiana
This award recognizes the member who has been with Carpet One for more than two years and has shown the greatest percentage increase in purchases from the previous year.
Titanium Sales Achievement Award – dollars: Floors, Inc. Carpet One in Texas
This award recognizes the member who has been with Carpet One for more than two years and who has shown the greatest actual increase in purchases from the previous year.
Commitment to Education Award: Fike Brothers Carpet One in Pennsylvania
This award goes to the member who has demonstrated the greatest commitment to educating his or her staff during the past year. This retailer attends University events throughout the year with a goal of graduating 100% of his or her staff from Carpet One University.
5-Diamond Award of Excellence: Foote Brothers Carpet One in Alabama
This award recognizes the Installation Excellence Five Diamond member who exhibits the most outstanding level of customer relations on a consistent basis. Foote Brothers Carpet One received the highest average score on their customer satisfaction surveys over the past year, representing the very best in customer service excellence.
Community Service Award: Florcraft Carpet One in Alaska
This award recognizes one retailer that has made an outstanding commitment to their community through Carpet One’s community relations programs during the previous year. This year’s winner was actively involved in our “Carpet One Welcomes Your Support” campaign, selling hundreds of welcome mats to support the cause and spreading the word about breast cancer awareness through email and by contacting local businesses. They have demonstrated enthusiasm for Carpet One’s community relations programs and have gone above and beyond to make a difference in their local community.
Special Achievement Award: Taylor Carpet One in Florida
This award recognizes a member who has made a significant achievement or excelled in their implementation of a Carpet One program during the previous year. Taylor Carpet One now has five locations in Southern Florida – one of which just recently opened in January. In just one year, storeowner John Taylor implemented the Destination: Carpet One program in all four of his existing stores and opened the new 8,000 sq. foot showroom in Bonita Springs. In addition, Taylor Carpet One is involved in many of Carpet One’s programs, including Revelation and training programs. John continues to set a strong example for other Carpet One members and is tirelessly dedicated to improving his business and Carpet One as a whole.
Partner of the Year: Mannington Mills
This award recognizes the organization that has made the most significant impact on the overall Carpet One membership during the past year. Mannington Mills has provided Carpet One retailers with a consistently outstanding level of customer service and innovative products. Plus, they recognize and support the entrepreneurial spirit of Carpet One.
