Nash Floor Company Carpet One has had a Relationship with the White House for Over 40 Years ROCKVILLE, MD (September 1, 2005) – Employees from the Carpet One retailer, Nash Floor Company Carpet One, recently had the exciting opportunity to get an up-close view of the White House. After the President left for Crawford, TX in early August, employees at Nash Floor Company spent almost two weeks installing beautiful new hardwood flooring in the Oval Office.

Nash Floor Company replaced the hardwood that was originally donated to the White House in 1982, while Ronald Reagan was in office. Chris Nash, owner of Nash Floor Company, explained that they removed the existing hardwood, along with the vinyl and cork floors that were below it, to expose a concrete subfloor.

His crew installed approximately 800 square feet of engineered walnut and white oak planks manufactured by Kentucky Wood Floors in a distinctive elliptical pattern, which was a replication of the hardwood they replaced. Nash noted that this was a particularly difficult job because each board had to be cut to fit the curved walls of the room.

“This was a very exciting opportunity for us,” said Nash. “We were given full access to that section of the White House and were escorted into the building through a special entrance. It is quite an honor to receive a request for flooring from the White House!”

Nash explained that his family’s company has had a relationship with the White House since the 1960s. They have been invited to install flooring in various White House rooms for many presidents over the pasty forty years. Last year, they installed hardwood in the East Ballroom.

Nash Floor Company has been a Carpet One member since 1993.
